Fluorine is estimated to be the 13th-most abundant element in the earth's crust and is widely dispersed in nature in the form of fluorides. Fluoride is found naturally in soil, water, and foods. High-level exposure to fluoride can lead to Fluoride poisoning. Fluoride contamination in drinking water due to natural and anthropogenic activities has been accepted as one of the major problems worldwide imposing a serious threat to human health. The present review emphasizes on efficacy of different methods for the removal of fluoride from water.
