In the present study, substituted coumarin based flavones have been synthesized via chalcone. The additional benefit of this reaction is the chalcone synthesis. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by elemental and spectral (IR, 1HNMR, and MS) analysis. The reactions are easy to conduct, under mild conditions, and form coumarin substituted flavones in moderate to good yields. The synthesized compounds have been evaluated against four strains of bacterial culture.
