A series of pyrazolone derivative 3was synthesized by following two different procedures: The reaction of 3-acetyldihydrofuran-2(3H)-one 1and thiosemicarbazide derivatives 2 in ethanol without catalyst or from an efficient and improved procedure using Keggin-type heteropolyacid(HPAs). In this case excellent yields and short reaction times were obtained. The synthesizedcompounds 3were screened for their in vitro anti-bacterial activity against 4 bacterial strains
